On 5 February 2014, Chevrolet introduced the New Chevy Adra Mini SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The Chevrolet Adra was fully developed by Indian designers at GM Technical Center-India in Bangalore.
Reporting from Indianautosblog, Chevrolet Adra adopted the global Chevrolet design standards while still paying attention to the expectations of local consumers to reach buyers of the next generation in India, according to an official release from GM India. The Chevrolet Adra offers all the benefits of a standard SUV – such as high ground clearance, broad visibility, comfortable passenger seats, and spacious cabin interior – in a compact package.
The Chevrolet Adra Concept has a length of fewer than 4 meters, so it is expected to meet the desires of local consumers – especially in India and other countries in Asia, which need compact but versatile cars.
GM India President and Managing Director, Lowell Paddock, said that Adra was a major achievement for Indian designers who conceptualized and designed the entire Adra model, which could trigger the growth of the compact SUV segment faster.
Although there is still no official release from Chevrolet, the Adra Mini SUV engine is believed to feature a tweaked version of the 77 bhp 1.3-liter Multijet diesel engine which is the same as the Chevrolet Sail and Enjoy.
If it is produced in the near future, this Chevrolet Adra Mini SUV is likely to become a serious competitor of the Ford EcoSport which has already reaped success in the world compact SUV market.
Along with this Adra Concept SUV, Chevrolet also launched the Beat facelift version, as well as featuring the Chevrolet C7 Corvette, Trailblazer SUV, and Chevrolet Camaro.
We do not know when this Chevy Adra will be marketed, including whether to enter the USA market or not.
