The restyling has given the 2020 Hyundai i20 a more modern look, while the 1.0 120-hp turbo combined with the new DCT dual-clutch transmission make it more lively. High load threshold.
2020 Hyundai i20 Redesign; Some touches of beautiful
Punctual, three years after its launch, the Hyundai i20 changes slightly physiognomy to appear more modern, but also to enrich itself with technological content. Externally the refreshed covers the lower part of the bumper, the seats of the fog lights and the front bezel, with the upper corners of the grid more open towards the ends. Some changes were made also in the rear, with the license plate that was moved higher, in the tailgate, the lights with a new shape and the bumper with a new profile. In addition, the roof can be black, in contrast to the rest of the bodywork, which offers a renewed range of colors.
Interior & Features Updates Rich in technology
The innovations of the Hyundai i20they also concern the interiors (always well finished and spacious), with new possibilities for personalization but, above all, with the new multimedia system, which has the 7 “screen in the center of the dashboard (5” in the less equipped versions), the navigator and , for the first time, the possibility of integrating smartphones through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: a feature that has become indispensable. It does not change the trunk (326/1042 liters of capacity), which unfortunately also retains the considerable height from the ground of the threshold (75 cm). Significant improvement in safety, with the aid systems previously absent, including the automatic emergency braking which, using the front camera, is activated in three phases. Initially, detecting a danger of frontal collision warns the driver with a visual and acoustic signal, then performs a light braking, and then applies the maximum possible force to stop the car. But on 2020 Hyundai i20 there is also the detection of driver fatigue that, analyzing some parameters of the car (including the steering wheel angle, the intensity of the steering, the position of the vehicle with respect to the carriageway and the duration of the trip), evaluates if the driver is able to continue the journey. If anomalies are detected compared to the standard behavior, the system will emit an acoustic alarm and, at the same time, a message will appear on the instrument panel warning the driver suggesting a break from driving. The Lane departure warning (with the lane maintenance system) and the High beam assist (the automatic high beam, which avoids “blinding” the drivers arriving in the opposite direction) are also unpublished.
2020 Hyundai i20 Engine Specs
It makes its debut on the Hyundai i20also the seven-speed dual-clutch robot gearbox DCT, combined with the 1.0 turbo. Just started the engine, in the 120-hp version of the test car, you notice the reduced vibrations of the three-cylinder engine and the rather low noise level; then, going at a moderate speed, you can especially appreciate the comfort offered by the Hyundai i20 1.0 T-GDI, which absorbs well the disconnections of the road and the less deep holes, and does not behave badly even on rails and pave. In the city, the maneuverability of the car facilitates maneuvering in traffic, the fluid engine above 2000 rpm (at the bottom the DCT transmission makes it sometimes a bit abrupt) and the light steering immediately puts at ease (in reverse maneuvers, however, you suffer a little ‘because of the low visibility offered by the small rear window). New Hyundai i20 which, together with the DCT transmission in Sport mode, allows a brilliant ride; the feeling of driving safety is high, thanks to the efficiency of the braking system and of the suspensions which, although with a calibration aimed at comfort, do not cause the car to curve too much on the side. The steering is fairly straightforward, light at low speed, but not very consistent in speed. As for consumption, the car is able to travel 15.6 km / l on average (according to the new WLTP approval cycle): in our test, mostly on out-of-town and on the highway, in the computer edge, we read 14.5 km / l.

Pros and Cons
- > Comfort. The car is well soundproofed, the cockpit is cozy and spacious, with wide armchairs. The suspensions are effective.
- Finishes . Plastics, even if rigid, are pleasant to the touch and there is also attention to detail that is not so obvious for a small car (such as height-adjustable seat belts).
- Engine . The 1.0 turbo with direct petrol injection is lively and is never too noisy.
- Backrest adjustment. Jerky, using a lever, it is inconvenient and not very precise.
- Steering. Increasing a bit ‘the pace is inaccurate and not very communicative (makes you feel little what the front wheels do).
- Rear visibility. The small rear window prevents you from perceiving the overall dimensions of the body in reverse maneuvers.
