2019 Peugeot Rifter Review; Spacious and Comfortable
The 2019 Peugeot Rifter is a large multispace with a pleasant guide; valid the coupling between the 1.5 diesel and the automatic transmission, but there is some internal detail to be improved.
2019 Peugeot Rifter Dimensions
Heir to the Tepee Partner, the Peugeot Rifter is a multi-space practice with some crossover features: the extensive black plastic protectors for the lower body area (including mudguards), the good ground clearance of the under body (18 centimeters, a value that helps to cope with uneven terrain) and the Advanced Grip Control (proposed at 980 euros, or 610 for the GT Line of the test, together with the M + S tires).
By turning a knob between the seats, the latter system allows you to choose between five different accelerator, traction control, and braking responses, making it a little easier to move on low-grip surfaces (such as sand and snow).
The result of a new project based on the Peugeot 5008 and 3008 platform (of the partner Tepee, only the rear suspension with interconnected wheels were maintained) the 2019 Peugeot Rifter it is proposed in a “short” version (440 cm, like the one we drove) or, for 1,200 euros more, “long” (475 cm). Both are also available in seven places (the two seats in the third-row cost 600 euros, or 650 for the “long” Rifter, which has them sliding) and boast a pleasant appearance, with an angular front and original windows with rounded corners.

2019 Peugeot Rifter Specs, Price & Configurations
The engines of the Peugeot Rifterthey are all turbo. The petrol is the 1.2 petrol with three cylinders of 110 hp (later will come the one with 131 hp), diesel oil 1.5 from 75, 102 or 131 hp, the latter also in conjunction with the automatic transmission with 8 speeds ( so was the test car).
Already ordered and delivered from September 2018, the Rifter has prices between 21.550 euros of 1.5 BlueHDi Active 75 hp (standard Bluetooth, manual air conditioning and security systems such as the warning of unintended lane change and braking automatic emergency) and 29.050 euros of the GT Line “long” with the 1.5 diesel with 131 hp (standard, even keyless access, the dual-zone air conditioning, the rear window can be opened, the 8 “monitor in the console and the wheels 17 “alloy). Among the options, the crystal roof (from 780 euros) and the navigator (from 550 euros).
2019 Peugeot Rifter Interior
As you can expect from a multispace of this size, the interior of the Peugeot Rifter offers space at will and the second row of seats, well accessible through sliding doors, consisting of three independent armchairs. Although made of rigid plastic panels, the interior has a pleasant and modern style and boasts considerable practicality.
Many of the glove boxes, including the very large one between the front seats, and the two wells under the feet of the rear passengers. There are three USB and 12 V plugs and, for 70 euros, even 230 V. We complain, however, the absence of mirror and lighting in the sun visors, and the small size of the armrests in the rear doors; a defect that can be traced back to the size of the electric window lift mechanism (a rarity for this kind of vehicles, which usually have the least comfortable sliding windows).
Another small note concerns the rear seats, which are comfortable but have a short seat: with 43 cm they do not support the thighs well. As with all the more recent Peugeot, the driving position of the Peugeot Rifter stands out for its small steering wheel (the hexagonal crown is only 32 cm high and 35 wide) and for the overhead dashboard on the dashboard.
However, in this case, thanks to the high seat, the instrumentation is not covered by the upper part of the steering wheel; valid the layout and functionality of the controls, including those of the “climate”. Finally, the trunk, which is very large and regular in shape, deserves full marks. The compartment can also be accessed by opening only the rear window: useful when there is not enough space behind the car to open the maxi-hatch.
2019 Peugeot Rifter Performance & Fuel Economy
Despite the raised set-up and the considerable body width (185 cm), the 2019 Peugeot Rifter is not awkward and you can drive without difficulty; about the good visibility in all directions. The not too soft suspensions limit the roll without sacrificing comfort on the holes, while the small steering wheel (which is soon used) contributes to a more direct steering; appreciable the precision with which the trajectories are set.
The 1.5 is quiet and pushes with regularity and a certain verve from low revs (we have seemed to reach the half the 11 seconds for the “0-100” and 184 km / h top speed declared by the house) and is favorably combined at the automatic transmission, sweet in selecting the eight reports and quite ready; to choose between forward and reverse gear there is a knob in the tunnel instead of a classic lever, and two paddles behind the steering wheel allow the driver to choose the gears in manual mode.
During the test on hilly roads faced with a relaxed pace, the onboard computer calculated a consumption of 14 km / l; if realistic (we promise to verify it in the next test on alVolante) it would be more than discrete.
