2019 Audi R8 Review, Interior, V10 Plus Horsepower, Pictures
Is enough a couple of digits to understand what dough is made this 2019 Audi R8, Supersports from almost 200 euros: its aspirated V10 paired with the lightning-fast gearbox S Tronic delivers 610 HP, grounded through the full traction. Enough to shoot from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds (according to our tests) and touch a maximum tip, obviously on the track, of 332.9 km/h. Even in the corner, the Audi R8 literally takes your breath away, thanks to the high road grip and the ready and precise steering. Suitable for performance braking, thanks to the system with serial brakes discs. It is unfortunate that the equipment does not belong to either the air conditioning (not foreseen) or the electronic suspension (cost over 2,000 euros) and improve the comfort on the disjointed.
2019 Audi R8 Review, Price
The 2019 Audi R8 is a super-fast and engaging Supersport in the guide to the limit that can be used in the quieter use, although it is difficult that the roar of its V10 does not point out driving in traffic, especially ordering the sports exhaust, which costs over 2,000 euros. and also the body shapes with carbon details (such as the air inlet shells in the sides or the rear wing) do not go unnoticed. The same material, light, and sturdy (as well as expensive) are used for the drive shaft, to reduce its weight. In this regard, 79% of the bodywork is made of aluminum: the needle of the scales thus stops at 1555 kg, not many for a car equipped with an integral drive and a V10 engine. The latter is in the center rear position, together with the 7-speed double clutch gearbox; The four-wheel drive differential is connected to the front axle, while at the rear there is a self-locking differential. In this way, the masses are distributed for 42% front and 58% at the rear. By adding driver and passenger you get to an almost perfect balancing, which is felt in the guide to the limit when you feel one with the car. The Audi R8 has lightning reactions (also thanks to the steering ratio of variable demultiplexing, an optional from just over 1,600 euros) and the lateral accelerations that are reached in the curve are very high.
2019 Audi R8 Interior
Dashboard and controls
Sportsmanship and elegance blend into the cockpit of the Audi R8: The dashboard is made with pleasing plastics to the touch, and embellished with carbon fiber details, such as the dashboard shell or the air-conditioning vents. Pity that the latter, despite having scenographic digital commands, is not of the type “Bizone” (is not expected). Modern also the digital dashboard, whose screen of 12.3 “is from instrumentation and monitor of the multimedia system: there is no central display. Among the functions is not lacking the navigator, nor the possibility to enter the address to be reached or the number to be called with your Bluetooth mobile phone, writing them at the fingertips on the control wheel. And there is also the possibility of having the Wi-Fi on board. It does, however, have to pay also the DAB radio, now standard even for some utilitarians. The massive perforated leather steering wheel (flat at the bottom to leave more space to the driver’s legs) incorporates the controls to manage the radio, the button to start the V10 and the one to vary the rumble to the exhaust, as well as the button for driving modes, i.e. comfort, auto, dynamic, and performance. The latter, the most extreme, provides, in turn, three calibrations for driving on dry, wet and snow, to be selected with an additional key.
The Audi R8 Coupé 5.2 V10 plus has standard carbon fiber shell seats. Alternatively (and at the same price), however, you can have the armchairs of the R8 “base” (the one from 540 hp and that makes “save” over 25,000 euros): They are less enveloping and more comfortable. They are equipped with electric height adjustment and have leather upholstery. Good space for driver and passenger, despite the cumbersome central console.
Under the front bonnet of the 2019 Audi R8 lurks a cockpit of 112 liters of capacity: Not many even for a coupe. The finishes are cured, but once loaded a small bag the compartment is almost full. In the cockpit, however, there is a shelf behind the seats on which to place a duffel bag or a golf bag.
2019 Audi R8 Test Drive, Fuel Economy
Nell’Audi R8 the small glasses and the wide sides do not help to move in traffic or to maneuver: it is appropriate to rely on the sensors of distance and the camera (standard the first, optional precious the second). Discreet comfort on the pavé, while the journeys we detected are “from Sheik”: 5.8 km with a liter of gasoline.
Out of town. On the mixed you can better appreciate the engine (although exploiting only a part of the many horses), well supported by the lightning change double clutch. Of course, you do not have to look too much on consumption: 8.9 km/litre according to our tests. The variable-ratio steering (optional) is ready and directed in the tightest turns, ensuring high stability in the fast bends.
On The highway. On board the 2019 Audi R8 you travel comfortable: The roar of the V10 (which at 130 km/h in seventh works at 3300 rpm) is a pleasant background and the trim, while stiff, is not massacring. The real pain is to keep an eye on the speedometer (it is worth putting in the purchase of the cruise control). From Supersport consumption: 7.9 km/liter.
On track. Only in the circuit can you give free rein to the 610 CV and thoroughly appreciate the high road seal and the excellent balancing of the weights in the changes of direction. Even in the limit guide, this fireball is safe, but unplugging the stability checks requires experience to manage the exuberance. Excellent response, powerful and well-modulated, of the brakes brakes.
2019 Audi R8 Pros and Cons
Currency. In the automatic and manual use (with the aluminum vanes behind the steering wheel), the robotic double clutch with seven gears is very fast, especially in the most sporty driving modes.
Finishes. Nell’Audi R8 the quality of the coatings is high, in the cockpit as in the (small) trunk. And there is no lack of carbon details for the dashboard and the console.
Engine. The aspirated V10 pushes strong and with an “infinite” progression. It also has an exhilarating roar, but it must be said that the sports exhaust is on demand.
The air conditioner has modern controls, with a lot of screens integrated into the wheels. They are of good effect, but a car of this price deserves the Bizone regulations.
Optional. Considering the type of car, and its price, having to pay apart devices like the cruise speed regulator or the DAB radio is annoying.
Visibility. It is true that we are talking about a coupe, but here windshield and rear window are really small. And the room is expensive.
