This new Porsche is the “family” version of the Panamera, compared to which it does not change in size, it weighs just a little extra (20 kg for the hybrid), but offers a more spacious and accessible trunk and a cabin with five seats (although the fifth, with the rigid and narrow seat and the huge central tunnel in the floor, should be considered of luck). The line of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, sporty and elegant as that of the sedan, changes only in the rear, where the roof is less arched and the window more “standing”; The large tailgate, which comes up to the bumper, also has the advantage of a lower load threshold, at 61 cm from the ground instead of 78 (a nice gain, in terms of practicality). Different is also the electric spoiler, above the rear window, which plays an important aerodynamic role varying in inclination depending on the speed: up to 170 km/h is in the eco position (angle of-7 °); Beyond this speed it enters the performance position (+ 1 °); Finally, when the electric roof is open, it leads to + 26 °.

The 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, however, is not a pure station wagon: It is still a luxury sport. It stands out, however, for the good capacity of the compartment (520 litres in petrol and diesel versions, 25 more than the Panamera, and 1,390 litres with reclined seats, values that are reduced to 425/1295 in the hybrid, against 405/1212 of the analogous sedan), for the practical backrest of the sofa divided in diagram 40/20/40 and for the system that allows to manage the contents of the trunk , through two tracks on the floor and four eyelets.
The 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo 4 E-Hybrid is the plug-in hybrid version (rechargeable it to a power outlet). The hybrid system consists of a six-cylinder 2.9 biturbo gasoline from 330 horsepower, under the front bonnet, combined with an electric motor from 136 HP mounted together with the gearbox: the total power is 462 horsepower (available in hybrid Auto mode). Lithium-ion batteries are placed under the trunk, have a voltage of 14 kwh and, according to the house, when they are charged they allow the machine to travel up to 51 km in electric, under 140 km/h, before the operation of the gasoline engine. In the Test, the 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo 4 E-Hybrid strikes mainly for comfort, maneuverability, and predictability in reactions. In the narrow and winding streets and in the city, the extralarge dimensions are felt; However, the light steering, the automatic transmission and the remarkable cue offered by the hybrid system allow you to move in traffic effortlessly and quietly, taking advantage also for long strokes the only electric motor. However, it is in the fast mixed that the Panamera sports tourism hybrid shows the best of its dynamic qualities, in order to appreciate the rapidity of the changes in direction, the stability and the high road seal (with a very low laterality, also due to the pasm active suspensions, as standard). And when it comes to resuming speed quickly, the power of the two motors and the rapidity in the double clutch shifts of the 8-speed gearbox project forward the machine as a sling, with an astonishing responsiveness. Moreover, with 462 CV available also a shooting brake of 5 meters as this manages to make forget its tonnage, so much to make almost “normal” data from authentic sports, such as the 4.6 second officers in the shot from 0 to 100 km/h and the maximum speed of 275 km/h, which seem really within the reach of the car. Let us not forget, however, that the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo is also a car devoted to long transfers, where it asserts the high comfort of the seats (heated, ventilated and with massage at 2,159 euro), the efficient soundproofing of the cockpit and the engine (which at 100 km/h almost does not feel) and the excellent filtering of the suspension. A part of the chapter concerns consumption, as this beast is able to travel just over 30 km to zero emissions, that is to say without consuming gasoline (many we have managed to cover in our test in country roads, before the intervention of the thermal engine and with the computer on board that still marked 12: But with a greater attention and an even lighter foot you could do better). The House declares 51 km of autonomy with batteries at maximum charge, a distance that would allow much of the possible home-office journeys without having to pass by the gas station. Especially since the stated charging times are not long: the high-voltage battery integrated into the rear is fully charged in six hours, through a connection to a 10 amp 230 v socket. If instead, as an alternative to the 3.6 kw charger, the optional 7.2 kw charger and a 230 V to 32 amp connection are used, the accumulators reach the maximum charge already after 2.4 hours. Through the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) or the Porsche Connect app (for smartphones and Apple Watch) You can also start charging remotely even in a timed manner. In addition, the car is equipped with a car air conditioning, to cool or heat the cockpit while the car is connected to the socket.
The 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is already on sale (for now only full wheel drive). It starts from 103,502 euros of 4 from 330 hp (2,928 euros more than the sedan). Then there are the 4s from 441 horsepower (126,560 euros) and the Turbo Col 4.0 from 549 hp (166,088 euro). Heavy enough the price of the diesel 4s from 421 horsepower: 130,586 euros, more than the 4 e-hybrid that stops at 118,158. Having regard to the figures in play, it is strange that some optional (standard on cars much less expensive) you have to pay separately: it is the case of the cruise control Adaptive (2,440 euro), the system of maintenance of Lane (1,086 euro) and the DAB radio (488 euro).
