2018 Citroën C3 Review; What a Surprise Changes
With the advanced automatic transmission EAT6, The 2018 Citroën C3 offers a pleasant “package” of the practicality of use, comfort, and panache. Some too much vibration from Stop & start.
2018 Citroën C3 Redesign and Changes
It took a few months to the current edition of the Citroën C3, presented to the public at the Paris Auto Show in October 2016, to score decisively positive results: 100,000 specimens sold throughout Europe in the first six months of marketing, and 13,000 customers only in Italy in the first four months of 2017. Today, the range of the “four Meters” (righteous righteous, is 400 cm long) French is renewed with the entry in the list of two PureTech 110 S&S equipped with the automatic transmission six-speed EAT6: The feel and the shine, both already available in the dealership at 17,300 and at 18,550 euros respectively. Of these, only the second still remains for sale (at 17,000 euros) even with the most classic manual gearbox with five reports: In this way, the number of 2018 Citroën C3 equipped with the 1.2 three-cylinder gasoline more powerful (110 hp) grows from two to three.
Without prejudice to all the other technical and aesthetic features of the 2018 Citroën C3 (which we have already driven in October last year, see here), the transmission EAT6 (efficient automatic transmission) is an automatic “classic”, that is the type of torque converter, optimized however in the speed and fluidity of the passages thanks to an important development work carried out, in particular, precisely on the converter itself. The transmission can be used in the most… convenient way, allowing the device to automatically select the various gears in relation to the conditions and needs of the moment; However, it can also be used in sequential mode, by inserting the gears backwards (to move up) or forward (to climb) the control lever on the tunnel, after having “pulled” to the left. The sport mode, insertable pushing a small button (little visible, and not easy to locate while driving) at the base of the plank, just beyond the two bottle holders, it allows to “pull” up to higher speeds the single gears, thus allowing to enjoy the best of good verve (the horses available are 110) and the valid torque (205 nm delivered already at only 1500 rpm) of the small but brilliant three-cylinder turbo. A second key, specular to the first, on the right, then inserts the snow function which, in case of particularly poor adhesion (as it happens, typically, on snow-capped funds), it allows internal frictions to the EAT6 to “slip” what it takes to avoid the risk that the driving wheels “skate” at the start and acceleration, or tend to crash in deceleration or braking.
2018 Citroën C3 Transmissions
Still on the subject of little “in-hand” commands, you should also mention the button that activates the camera ConnectedCam (allows you to take pictures and movies up to two minutes, then download on the smartphone), placed behind the inner mirror, and the keys (hidden behind the steering wheel) to adjust the external mirrors. Definitely succeeded, however, the combination between the 1.2 turbos and the automatic gearbox: The driving steps are fast and fluid. By inserting the sport function, the car has a pleasantly brilliant performance, with an excellent latching (9.8 seconds declared for the “0-100”) and a good speeding (the official data promise 188 km/h maximum peak): from 2000 to 6000 rpm the engine “turns” smooth and with a pleasant and “round” sound, leaving little doubt about the performance declared by Citroën. The adoption of the EAT6 transmission, in essence, it allows the 2018 Citroën C3 to offer a good “package” of vivacity and comfort, emphasized also by the dampening of the roughness that the suspensions can assure and by the low noise (both of the engine and the rolling of tyres on the asphalt) warning on board. Not quite the height, however, the “softness” of the Stop & Start device, which in the restarts from the traffic lights is not always ready and sometimes transmits some vibration of too much in the cockpit. Remarkable the road holding, despite a steering calibrated especially for driving in relax; In the city guide can disturb the left front upright of the roof, which reduces the view when it comes to turning in a side street. Chapter consumption: In the face of an official figure of 20.4 km/liter, at the end of the test the board computer indicated 14.6. Considered the “heavy foot” with which the car had been driven, a result anything but despised
Citroen C3 Pros and Cons
> automatic transmission. The EAT6 transmission is indicated for smooth operation and rapid response.
>> Comfort. The acoustic insulation and the irregularities of the asphalt is particularly effective.
>> Verve. The engine is ready, the fast gearbox (and in sport mode allows you to “pull” the gears well): there is enough to have more fun than you would expect.
> commands. Some of the secondary ones are not exactly at your fingertips.
>> Start & Stop. It transmits (although not always) some too much vibration in the restartings from red traffic lights.
> visibility. The front left side of the roof complicates a little things in the turns in the city.
