2018 Audi Q3 Spy Photos; The New Generations of Q3 SUV
First spy photos for the Audi Q3, which in the second half of 2018 will be renewed on the basis of the MQB platform. Feels the years-the Audi Q3 was the last model of the VW group to be developed on the basis of the old PQ35 platform: its debut dates back to 2011 and already the year after, in 2012, was presented the Golf 7 which brought in dowry the far more modern MQB platform. Now also the Audi Q3 will be able to exploit this mechanical base used by almost all models of the German group. Q3 also pays seniority to the latest rivals, the BMW X1 and the Mercedes GLA. But the new generation is already in the advanced stage of development, as evidenced by the spy photos of Auto Motor und Sport which surprised a specimen equipped with definitive bodywork, although well disguised. The new Audi Q3 should debut in the second half of 2018.
Larger but lighter-the MQB platform should lead to a reduction of the loss of about 50 kg despite slightly larger dimensions: from 439 cm in length today to about 445 cm. In addition, the Audi Q3 can finally have several engine variants: traditional (gasoline, diesel, and methane), hybrid or electric. The traction will remain front or full. The technicians of the German House will then update the bodywork according to the new views on the latest models, enlarging the mask and drawing a massive rear riser, a sort of mix between Q2 and Q5, giving more character and sturdiness to the lateral and frontal view.
From Spain to Hungary-the choice of the MQB mechanical base will have major repercussions also at the industrial level, since the Audi Q3 of 2018 will be built in Hungary (in Győr, together with the A3 and TT) and no longer in the Spanish factory of Martorell, destined instead to the Utilitarians and SUVs made on the platform MQB A0 (Futura Audi A1, Seat Ibiza and Arona). The engines expected on the new Q3 should be the modern turbocharged gasoline four cylinders 1.5, in addition to diesel 1.6 and 2.0, but should not miss even high-performance sports unit RS Q3 with 400 hp. From the new Q3 will be derived a coupé-style SUV waiting on the market in two years that will be called Q4.
